This isn't simply another step-by-step art class. Children aren't here to copy Kristin's example or make 20 versions of the same project. They're encouraged to make choices, try ideas, solve problems, change their minds, take creative risks β€” and discover their own artistic voice.

1
JOIN
One membership covers the whole family. New members start with a quick, friendly Start Here path (about 15–20 minutes, once), then enter the current month.
2
CREATE
A new creative theme arrives every month a Creative Superpower, an artist, and a Big Question. Create on your family's schedule: watch & pause anytime, replay anytime.
3
SHARE YOUR ARTWORK
Join Kristin live twice a month, share artwork in the Student Spotlight Gallery, and celebrate with the Academy community.
4
GROW
Build that creative toolbox month after month β€” real art skills, creative confidence, and a creative voice that's all your child's own.
What a month looks like

The weekly rhythm

WEEK 1
Artist Connection + Studio Project #1 + Sketchbook Spark
WEEK 2
Creativity Experiment + Sketchbook Spark + πŸ”΄ LIVE
WEEK 3
Studio Project #2 + Sketchbook Spark
WEEK 4
Creativity Experiment + Sketchbook Spark + πŸ”΄ LIVE
🫢 suggested path β€” not homework
Inside each month, experiences are organized as a Suggested Path, not Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4 β€” because families need flexibility. You do not have to do everything. Some families will devour everything; another month they'll manage one project and two sketchbook pages. They're still members of KCCA.

Families don't need to complete everything. KCCA is designed as a creative menu, not another homework assignment.

There is no β€œI'm behind” in KCCA. The two Studio Projects are the month's main experiences. Everything else is an invitation. Have ten minutes? Grab a Sketchbook Spark. Want to practice a technique? Try a Creative Exercise. Want more connection? Come to a Live. Want to bring the month's idea into family life? Try the Family Challenge.

How involved do parents need to be?

KCCA is designed to encourage increasing creative independence. Younger artists may need occasional help gathering materials, setting up or navigating videos, while older children may work almost entirely independently. Parents are encouraged to be interested observers and creative cheerleadersβ€”not assistant art directors.

You don't need to know anything about art to raise a creative kid β€” every month, the Parent Connection Letter gives you conversation starters, encouraging language, and simple ways to support creativity without taking over.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

What ages is KCCA for?
KCCA is designed for children approximately ages 6–12 who enjoy creating β€” or who need a little help believing that they can create. Projects are designed with enough artistic instruction to build real skills while leaving enough freedom for children to make independent choices.
Does my child need art experience?
No previous art experience is necessary. Every month includes real artistic instruction β€” drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, composition, color, line, texture and more β€” while leaving plenty of room for each child to make their own choices.
What supplies do we need?
At the beginning of each month, families receive a simple supply list. Most materials are common art supplies many families already have at home (sketchbook, pencils, markers, watercolors, paper, scissors, glue), with advance notice for any specialty items. Affordable recommendations and shopping links are provided whenever possible. We also encourage a "Beautiful Junk Box" of collected collage treasures β€” free creativity!
Are the classes live?
It's a mix. Each month includes two professionally filmed Studio Exploration Projects your family can watch anytime, plus two LIVE "In the Studio with Kristin" sessions β€” relaxed, community-centered gatherings with creativity games, mini demonstrations, questions and artwork celebrations. Live times vary to accommodate different schedules.
What if we miss a live session?
No problem! Every live session is recorded and added to the Academy as a replay, so your family can watch (and create along) whenever it fits your schedule.
How involved do parents need to be?
KCCA is designed to encourage increasing creative independence. Younger artists may need occasional help gathering materials or setting up, while older children may work almost entirely independently. Parents are encouraged to be interested observers and creative cheerleaders β€” not assistant art directors. And each month's Parent Connection Letter gives you conversation starters and encouraging language to use at home. You don't need to know anything about art to raise a creative kid.

Your child doesn't need to be β€œgood at art.”

They just need a place where their ideas are allowed to matter.
